I had heard a lot of stories but never seen Don Valentine, the founding General Partner of Sequoia Capital.
When I did now, I get to see a fantastic talk by him and what makes great investments. What caught my eye was that Sequoia invests in entrepreneurs who know what they don't know - a little Socratic [who said "True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing"]. It is refreshing in the business world full of experts, "i-formers" and who know it all.
I have not read it but if you want to learn a little more about venture capital history, I would recommend Spencer Ante's book, Creative Capital: Georges Doriot and the Birth of Venture Capital [Yes - it is not Arthur Rock that created this industry]
